The total amount of magnesium in an adults body is about 20-30 g. Of this amount, about 50% is found in bones, 45% - in cells, and only 5% of the total amount can be determined in blood plasma.

The intracellular concentration of magnesium varies from 10 to 60 mmol / L, the normal value of the concentration of magnesium in blood plasma is in the range from 0.7 to 1.1 mmol / L. In blood plasma, approximately ⅔ of magnesium ions are in dissolved form and about 1/3 binds to proteins.

When used internally, magnesium is absorbed depending on the initial magnesium content in the body. With a deficiency of magnesium in the body, a greater amount is absorbed, and when saturated with magnesium, a smaller amount is absorbed. The resorption ratio corresponds to a homeostatically regulated resorption kinetics characteristic of physiologically active substances.

With an equilibrium balance of magnesium and normal kidney function, even at high doses of magnesium, its accumulation does not occur, exceeding the normal limit.

After absorption in the intestines, magnesium is mainly excreted by the kidneys. Undigested magnesium is excreted in the feces.

Indications

Application

The dose of the magnesium forte biolectra preparation depends on the degree of magnesium deficiency in the body. the average daily dose is 1–2 effervescent tablets (243–486 mg of magnesium ions = 10–20 mmol).

Children over the age of 6 are prescribed 1 effervescent tablet once a day.

Adolescents and adults are prescribed 1 effervescent tablet 1-2 times a day.

In severe cases of magnesium deficiency, the doctor may prescribe the drug Biolectra Magnesium forte in higher doses.

The tablet must be dissolved in a glass of water, the resulting solution to drink.

The duration of treatment depends on the underlying causes of magnesium deficiency.

Contraindications

Side effects

1 effervescent tablet contains 7.35 mmol (169 mg) of sodium. this should be considered in patients on a low sodium / sodium salt diet.

1 effervescent tablet contains 3.48 mmol (136 mg) of potassium. This should be considered for patients with impaired renal function, as well as for people on a low potassium diet.

Use during pregnancy and lactation. During pregnancy and lactation, there are no risks of using the drug.

Children. The drug is not recommended for children under 6 years of age.

Interactions

With the simultaneous use of iron, sodium fluoride or tetracycline, the absorption of iron, sodium fluoride, tetracycline and magnesium may be impaired. in such cases, an interval of 3-4 hours must be observed between the administration of the magnesium forte biolectra preparation and iron, sodium fluoride, and tetracycline preparations.

While taking medications containing aluminum (such as antacids), aluminum absorption may increase.

It enhances the effect of antiarrhythmic, antihypertensive drugs, reduces the degree of magnesium deficiency and the risk of related complications when taking diuretics, aminoglycosides, cisplatin, cyclosporine, amphotericin, methotrexate, and laxatives.

Overdose

When using magnesium salts inside, hypermagnesemia occurs only with renal failure. Magnesium salts are contraindicated in these patients.

Symptoms of intoxication. High concentrations of magnesium cause relaxation of skeletal muscles (plasma magnesium concentrations of 5.5 mmol / L). A concentration of magnesium ions of 10–20 mmol / L lengthens the conduction period in the heart, and even higher concentrations lead to cardiac arrest in diastole.
