fusidic acid is a natural antibiotic formed during the growth of fusidium coccineum. disrupts the synthesis of protein of the microbial cell, depending on the dose acts bacteriostatically or bactericidal. the drug has a powerful antibacterial effect on a wide range of gram-positive microorganisms - staphylococcus spp., streptococcus spp., corynebacterium minutissimum and propionibacterium acnes, and others, including staphylococci resistant to penicillin, streptomycin, chloramphenicene and others. fusiderm has the ability to act through intact skin. when applied topically, fusidic acid is active against corynebacteria spp., neisseria spp, clostridia spp, bacteroides spp.
Pharmacokinetics During topical administration, systemic absorption is negligible.
As monotherapy or in combination with systemic therapy for the treatment of primary or secondary infections of the skin and soft tissues caused by susceptible strains of microorganisms (staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Corynebacterium minutissimum and propionibacterium acnes), including impetigo, folliculitis, paronychia skin in the beard, erythrasma, acne, infected wounds and burns, infected contact dermatitis, infected eczema-like dermatitis.
It is necessary to apply to adults and children over 1 month with a thin layer on the affected skin 2-3 times a day for 7 days. acne treatment must be carried out within 14 days. you can use fusiderm under a dressing - in this case, fusiderm can be used less often (1-2 times a day). in the presence of necrotic masses before using the drug, they must be removed.
Hypersensitivity to fusidic acid and other components of the drug; infections of the skin and soft tissues caused by drug-resistant microorganisms, for example pseudomonas aeruginos.
General disorders and reactions at the site of application: itching, slight burning, tingling sensation, dermatitis, including contact and eczematous skin rashes, erythema, pain at the site of application, reactions at the site of application.
On the part of the immune system: hypersensitivity reactions, including skin irritation, hyperemia, burning sensation, conjunctivitis, periorbital edema, angioedema, urticaria.
There is evidence of bacterial resistance during topical use of fusidic acid. as with all topical antibiotics, prolonged and repeated use of the drug may increase the risk of contact sensitization and the development of resistance of microorganisms to antibiotics.
Apply the drug to the skin around the eyes with caution, avoiding contact with the eyes, as this can cause conjunctival irritation.
During pregnancy and breastfeeding. The use of Fusiderm during pregnancy and lactation is possible only when the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus and baby.
Children. Apply in children over the age of 1 month.
The ability to influence the reaction rate when driving vehicles and working with other mechanisms is not described.
At a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C.
