Pharmacological properties.

Pharmacodynamics. Pharmacological properties of ichthyol ointment are due to the action of biologically active substances of ichthyol. Ichthyol ointment has antimicrobial (bactericidal and bacteriostatic), anti-inflammatory and local analgesic effects.

Pharmacokinetics. When applied externally, ichthyol ointment is practically not absorbed into the systemic circulation and does not show a resorptive effect.

Clinical characteristics.


Burns, eczema, erysipelas, neuralgia, arthritis.


Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

Special security measures.

Avoid contact with the ointment on the mucous membranes.

Hands should be thoroughly washed after applying the ointment to prevent the remaining ointment from getting into the eyes, nose, and mouth.

Interactions with other drugs and other types of interactions.

When used concomitantly with drugs for external use, new compounds can form with unpredictable effects. Incompatible with solutions of iodide salts, alkaloids, and heavy metal salts.

Application features.

Use during pregnancy or lactation.

Women who are breastfeeding should not allow the ointment to get on the nipples. The safety and efficacy of the drug during pregnancy or lactation have not been studied.

Ability to influence the reaction rate when driving vehicles or other mechanisms.

The effect of the drug on the ability to drive vehicles and other mechanisms has not been described.

Dosage and administration.

Apply externally. The ointment is applied in a thin layer to the affected areas of the skin 2-3 times a day and covered with a bandage. The duration of treatment is determined by the course of the disease and the effectiveness of therapy.

For the treatment of erysipelas and complicated forms of burns, arthritis, neuralgia, eczema, it is used as part of a complex treatment.

The user should consult a doctor if the symptoms of the disease do not disappear during the use of the drug or there are adverse reactions that are not specified in the instructions for medical use of the drug.


The experience of using it in children is not described.


There were no reports of overdose.

Adverse reactions.

Possible allergic reactions, skin irritation (burning, itching, rash, redness of the skin), especially at the beginning of treatment and with prolonged use. If severe skin irritation or other unusual reactions occur, the ointment should be discontinued.
